Do you want to get more from your current website? Want to get more orders, commissions and online sales for your creative products or services? Want to waste less time on social media and make it work better for you?

In this practical one-day workshop, Patricia van den Akker, the Director of The Design Trust and very experienced creative business adviser and trainer, will be working with you to increase your online sales and orders.

  • The day will start with the fundamental online sales techniques that will help you to build your profile, credibility and trust so that you can turn interest into sales and get more repeat business from your existing clients
  • You will look at how your website needs to be different depending on if you sell products or services, and what to do if you sell luxury products
  • You will then focus on how to drive more traffic to your website - through email marketing, social media, SEO and more traditional marketing
  • You will learn how to get people to open, read and act upon your email marketing. And how to create a more effective email marketing campaign and build momentum. Did you know that email marketing is 10x more effective than social media to get sales? 
  • You will go in detail through the various social media tools so you can choose the best ones for your business and clients
  • You will find out about the basics of SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) and keywords to get a higher ranking on Google
  • There will be practical exercises and you'll rewrite one of your own product pages
  • Patricia will share with you some good topics to write, blog or tweet about 

By the end of this session you will have created your own online selling & social media action plan and a social media plan for the next 3 – 6 months. Patricia will share many practical examples of creative businesses’ websites, email campaigns and social media. There will also be time to answer your questions in a Q&A and review session.

This practical session is aimed at small ambitious creative businesses that want to grow their business through more online sales. You currently have a website, either an e-commerce site (e.g. Etsy, Shopify, Big Cartel, NOTHS etc) or a portfolio website (e.g. Wordpress, Squarespace). This workshop is suitable for creative product sellers or services, including homewares, giftware, stationery, photography, product and interior design, illustrators, etc.

Patricia van den Akker has been a creative business adviser and trainer for more than 20 years, and works mostly with designers, makers and creative product businesses in homewares & giftwares as well as the luxury market. She was recently voted ‘Best Business Adviser in Branding & Marketing in the UK’ by Enterprise Nation members.
She is known for her practical, action-orientated approach to creative business development, and will share with you many examples to discuss.

Patricia will use her 20+ years’ experience in marketing and branding, as well as her own experience of creating and growing The Design Trust, which now attracts around 50,000 visitors each month and has close to 80,000 social media followers.
